12-15-14 Marguerite Van Cook’s book signing of The Late Child, illustrated by James Romberger
Last week I had the pleasure of attending my friend Marguerite Van Cook‘s book signing at St Marks Bookstore. Her latest book The Late Child is a generational autobiography, which means it stories from both her Mother’s and her lives. It’s wonderfully illustrated by James Romberger, Marguerite’s husband and also a friend of mine. Both my friends are awesome artists and if you haven’t yet seen their work, check them out, you won’t be sorry!
What so cool and inspiring about my buddies is that they both have really cool artistic paths. Marguerite was in one of the first all girl punk bands (The Innocents) and toured with The Clash in their first UK tour! James and Marguerite ran an art gallery in Alphabet City in the 1980s!! And they both have artwork in museums. Wild!
The Late Child was published in November 2014 by Fantagraphics Books and his available for purchase here.
By the way, St. Mark’s Bookshop is really nice. Check it out sometime!
Here are some images from The Late Child signing. Special thanks to photographer Kaye Tengco:
